Verifying works
Completing a works order with evidence is already the minimum evidentiary bar. Verifying it is a separate, optional judgement call — yours, never the platform’s — that the hazard is actually resolved.
What it is
Once a works order reaches Works Complete, the drawer offers two routes to Verified: schedule a verifying re-survey and, once it’s sealed, mark the works order verified against it — the gold-standard confirmation, since a second inspection actually re-checks the property; or verify by attestation, a mandatory written reason recorded instead of a re-survey, for when one genuinely isn’t being done. Neither is inferred from anything the platform reads in survey content — the determination that the hazard is resolved is always a human one.
How to do it
- Open the completed works order and click Schedule a verifying re-survey — this raises a new survey job and drops it into the Schedule tab’s unassigned tray.
- Once that re-survey is captured and sealed, return to the works order and click Mark verified.
- If a re-survey isn’t being done, use Verify by attestation instead and give a reason — this is mandatory; a bare toggle isn’t offered.
How it integrates
Verifying by re-survey checks a structural link only: the re-survey’s own job must declare itself a re-survey of this works order, and must be sealed. Verifying by attestation writes a separate, honestly-labelled stamp that the case lifecycle rail reads as reaching Verified exactly the same as a real re-survey would — but the record itself, and every report and export that shows it, distinguishes the two: Verified By Attestation — No Re-Survey is never presented as equivalent evidence to a re-survey. Both routes are write-once — once verified, a works order can’t be re-verified by the other route.
Common problems
- Mark verified is greyed out. The linked re-survey exists but isn’t sealed yet — finalising it in the field app or portal unlocks the button.
- I want to close a case without doing either. Use Close case with the reason Closed without verification instead — see Closing a case, decant and wash-down. It’s shown amber, never as a verified closure.
- I verified by attestation but a later re-survey came back with a different result. There’s no automatic reconciliation — record what actually happened as its own case note or a fresh job; the attestation stays on the record as history, not something that gets silently overwritten.
