Mobile App — Running a Survey

How a surveyor completes a survey on-site, from opening an assigned job to sealing the evidence. Tiered — Basics for the everyday flow, Deep dive for the module detail, Technical for how the data is protected.

Basics — the survey flow

Open your job. Assigned surveys appear in the inbox with due dates. Tap one to open its survey dashboard — a hub of module cards, each showing its live status.
Be on-site. Where your organisation requires it, capture a GPS fix; editing is only allowed while you're at the property.
Work through the modules (in any order). Each card opens a full-screen module; a Next button walks you to the following section.
Add photos as you go — they're timestamped and fingerprinted at capture.
Sign off, then finalise. Finalising seals the record — it can no longer be edited, and it syncs back to the management dashboard as evidence.

Deep dive — the modules

The survey dashboard covers everything an HHSRS/damp assessment needs:

Survey details — address (pushed from the job) and the GPS fix.
Rooms — per-room readings (temperature, humidity), damp observations and photos.
External analysis — elevations and outdoor conditions; weather can be auto-filled from your location.
Psychrometrics — derived dew-point/vapour-pressure diagnostics from the room readings.
Condensation risk — interstitial (ISO 13788) construction build-ups.
HHSRS hazards — the 2026 hazard assessment.
EPC, Soil & drainage, Ventilation, Floor plan.
Report narrative — the written report sections (property description, external observations, ventilation, timber, damp, executive summary, and more). Each has:
Smart Build — tap options across categories and the app assembles professional wording for you, with a live preview.
AI Polish — tidies your dictated or typed notes using your organisation's own AI (advisory only; it never enters evidence by itself).
Dictation — speak your notes instead of typing.
Sign-off — recorded with a date-and-time stamp.

You can reopen and view any survey read-only at any time.

Technical — how the evidence is protected

On-site enforcement: if your organisation enables it, a survey can only be started and edited within a GPS radius of the property; leaving the radius locks editing.
Photo provenance: each photo is SHA-256-hashed at capture and carries its EXIF timestamp and camera make/model.
Sealing: finalising computes a SHA-256 hash of the record, chained to the previous one — making the finalised survey tamper-evident and append-only. See Evidence integrity.
Offline: capture works offline; finalising (sealing) needs a connection, and evidence syncs when you reconnect.
AI: runs on your organisation's own provider key; with no key configured, AI features are simply off.

Rollout note: some on-site-enforcement and report-adjustment behaviours (job-pushed address, GPS lock-out, currency/units) are configured by your organisation and are rolling out — check your dashboard settings.
