Cancelling
Cancelling a subscription drops your organisation back to the Solo plan — it does not delete your organisation or touch any evidence you’ve captured.
What it is
Ending a card-based subscription is done inside the Stripe billing portal, reachable from the Billing page, not a standalone in-app button — that portal offers cancellation alongside payment-method and invoice history. The moment Stripe confirms the cancellation, your organisation’s licensed seats drop to one surveyor seat, any office-seat add-on is removed, and billing status returns to Solo’s own free-of-charge standing. Every sealed record, property, contractor and piece of evidence you had is kept exactly as it was.
Before you start
Cancelling needs Edit-level access to Billing. If your organisation is billed by invoice under an agreed arrangement rather than a self-serve card subscription, contact support to end it — that isn’t a Stripe subscription with its own self-serve cancel button.
How to do it
- Open Settings → Billing.
- Select Invoices & payment to open the Stripe billing portal.
- Choose to cancel your subscription from within that portal, following its own confirmation steps.
- Once confirmed, your plan and seats update automatically — no further action is needed in the portal itself.
How it integrates
Because seats and plan are always mirrored from your live subscription by Stripe’s webhook, cancelling there is the single action that actually changes anything — there’s no separate in-app “downgrade” step to remember. Dropping to Solo may put you over that plan’s smaller office-user or viewer bundle if your organisation has grown since first subscribing; existing members aren’t removed automatically, but inviting a new one past the bundle is blocked until you’re back within it or you resubscribe.
Common problems
- I cancelled but a colleague is still listed as an office user over the Solo bundle. Cancelling never removes existing members — deactivate someone from Members & seats if you need to get back under the new bundle’s cap.
- I want to cancel but I’m billed by invoice, not by card. Contact support — an invoice-billed agreement isn’t a self-serve Stripe subscription, so there’s no billing-portal cancel button for it.
- I cancelled by mistake. Resubscribe from the Billing page at any time — your evidence, properties and contractors were never affected either way.
