Remedial recommendations and scope of works
Two steps turn your findings into a plan: Remedial Outcomes records your professional conclusions, and Scope of Works & Costs turns any recommended work into a priced schedule — one you select from a catalogue, never one you price yourself.
What it is
Remedial Outcomes is a checklist of seven outcome types you can combine: works required (with what, where, and a priority), further investigation required, pass to or refer to a contractor or handyman, monitor or re-inspect on a set date, temporary rehousing needed, mould wash-down requested, or no remedial action required. Ticking “Works required” and describing the work carries it straight through to Scope of Works — you don’t need to re-type it there.
Scope of Works & Costs is where you build the priced schedule. You search your organisation’s rate catalogue and pick items with a quantity and an optional note; if no catalogue is configured, you can add a plain description and quantity instead, for a manager to price later. You pick items — you never type a price. Whether prices are even shown to you while picking is a separate organisation setting; if it’s off, the office and the report still show them, just not your screen while you work.
Before you start
Picking catalogue items needs your organisation to have a rate catalogue configured; without one you can still record a description and quantity.
How to do it
- Open Remedial Outcomes and tick every outcome that applies — most surveys need only one or two.
- For “Works required”, describe the work, where it applies, and how urgent it is.
- Open Scope of Works & Costs. Anything already described under “Works required” appears here automatically — review it, and remove any line that doesn’t belong (it won’t reappear once removed).
- Search and add further catalogue items as needed, with quantity and an optional note.
- If no catalogue is loaded, add a free-text description and quantity instead.
How it integrates
Scope of Works items carry through to the works order once the case moves into works — see Repair rates catalogue for how your organisation manages the rates themselves. “Monitor / re-inspect” with a date drives office scheduling directly; decant and mould wash-down outcomes write straight onto the linked job for the office to see immediately. None of this is priced by you — pricing sits with the catalogue and, where no catalogue item exists, with the office afterwards.
Common problems
- An item I removed from Scope of Works keeps looking like it should come back. It won’t — a removed auto-imported line is marked dismissed, not deleted outright, so it stays gone even if you add more detail under Remedial Outcomes afterwards.
- I can’t see any prices while picking items. That’s an organisation setting, not a fault — the office and the printed report always show them regardless.
- There’s no catalogue item close to what I need. Add a free-text description and quantity — a manager can price it on the portal afterwards.
