In-app settings, the survey guide, and reference material
A handful of screens in the app exist to orient you, not to configure anything — organisation-level configuration always lives in the portal, not on your device.
What it is
Settings in the app is deliberately small: your display theme, a read-only view of your name, email, organisation and role, a switcher if you belong to more than one organisation, and a note that capture policy, branding, team and integrations are all managed by your organisation in the portal and simply followed here. From Settings you can also open a short survey workflow guide — a quick orientation to the overall shape of a survey — and a standards & regulations reference: a bundled, offline, read-only summary of the UK housing standards and statutory duties relevant to a survey, including Awaab’s Law, HHSRS, and the Decent Homes Standard, each with a note on where to find the authoritative source. It’s explicitly a reference, not a substitute for checking the current text of any standard yourself.
Viewing a sealed record on your device opens the full report exactly as it was sealed — every reading, photo, hazard section, HHSRS outcome, floor plan and sign-off, plus the record’s chain-of-custody hash — genuinely read-only, with no re-opened editing. From there you can also open the same record in the ordinary survey view for a section-by-section read, or start a reasoned corrected version as a brand-new draft if something in it genuinely needs fixing — the sealed record itself is never changed either way.
How to do it
- Open Settings from the bottom navigation.
- Use Standards & regulations or Survey workflow guide under Reference for a quick orientation.
- Switch organisation profile from here if you work for more than one.
- From Recent records, tap a sealed survey to open its read-only view, including its chain-of-custody details.
How it integrates
Everything genuinely configurable about how you capture — required fields, photo policy, which sections you see — is set by your organisation in the portal and simply takes effect on your device; nothing in the app’s own Settings screen changes it. A sealed record’s read-only view draws on the exact same hash-chained data shown in The evidence register — nothing is summarised or re-derived for this view.
Common problems
- I want to change what fields are required or which sections I see. That’s organisation-level configuration, not something set from your device — ask an admin to check Settings → App configuration.
- The regulations reference doesn’t cover something I need. It’s a curated summary of the most relevant standards, not an exhaustive legal library — check the authoritative source directly for anything it doesn’t cover.
- I can’t find an edit option on a sealed record. There isn’t one — that’s the point of sealing. Start a corrected version instead if something needs fixing.
